What does underarm laser hair removal involve?
We start with a free consultation and a laser patch test. The cosmetologist assesses your skin phototype and hair type, rules out contraindications, and selects laser parameters for your skin. Only then do we plan your series.
On the day of treatment, your underarms should be closely shaved (the day before or in the morning), washed, and dry — no antiperspirant, body lotion, or oil. Before your first visit, leave a small patch of about 1×1 cm unshaved so the cosmetologist can assess the hair.
The LightSheer Duet laser beam is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and travels down it to the hair bulb in the skin. Because the hair is shaved, the energy is not lost on the surface and works exactly where it should. Skin cooling and vacuum-assist reduce discomfort.
After your session: antiperspirant, sun, and shaving
For a few days after underarm laser hair removal, skip antiperspirant. Until any redness subsides, avoid hot baths, saunas, and swimming pools. Wash the skin with a mild, soap-free gel and pat it dry with a towel — no rubbing. If your skin needs it, apply a soothing cream (e.g. Alantan Plus or Bepanthen, available at Polish pharmacies).
For 4 weeks after your session, protect the skin from the sun and use SPF 50+ sunscreen. Between visits you may shave your underarms with a razor, but do not pull hairs out with wax, tweezers, or an epilator — the laser needs a hair with its bulb inside the skin.
First results are usually visible 2–3 weeks after a visit, when the treated hairs start to fall out on their own.
Why are underarms treated in a series?
The laser only works on hairs in the active growth phase (anagen), and at any given moment only some of them are growing. That is why long-term hair reduction usually requires 6–8 sessions (results vary). Underarm hair turns over fairly quickly, so we schedule visits every 4–6 weeks.
The number of sessions depends on your body — among other things on your hormone balance, medications and supplements, and genetic predisposition. If isolated new hairs appear years later, a short top-up session is enough.
